W pierwszym dzisiejszym starcie awaria nastąpiła po kilkunastu sekundach, w drugim informacja o pomyślnym wyniesieniu została wkrótce potem usunięta. Jak to mawia Elon: "Rockets are hard."...

Rakietowy i pechowy 12 września
BY KRZYSZTOF KANAWKA ON 13 WRZEŚNIA 2020

Dwunastego września 2020 roku doszło do dwóch startów rakiet: jednej amerykańskiej i jednej chińskiej. Oba starty zakończyły się niepowodzeniem.

Nieudany start KZ-1A

China's launch of new satellite fails
Source: Xinhua| 2020-09-12 18:45:59|Editor: huaxia

JIUQUAN, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Optical remote-sensing satellite Jilin-1 Gaofen 02C, which was launched aboard the Kuaizhou-1A carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 13:02 p.m. (Beijing time) on Saturday, failed to enter the preset orbit.

Abnormal performance was identified during the rocket's flight, said the launch center.

The cause of the failure is under investigation. Enditem

Chinese Kuaizhou-1A rocket launch ends in failure

HELSINKI — Launch of a Kuaizhou-1A satellite carrying a remote sensing satellite ended in failure following liftoff from Jiuquan Saturday.

The Kuaizhou-1A solid rocket lifted off from a transporter erector launcher at Jiuquan in the Gobi Desert at 01:02 a.m. Eastern Saturday. Amateur footage of the apparent launch appeared on Chinese social media shortly after.

Chinese launches to low-Earth and Sun-synchronous orbits are usually confirmed successful within an hour of liftoff. State media provided official confirmation of the failure (Chinese) five hours after launch. The terse report stated that the specific reasons for the launch anomaly are being further analyzed and investigated.

The launcher was carrying the Jilin-1 Gaofen (‘high resolution’) 02C optical Earth observation satellite. The satellite was understood to have 0.76-meter resolution capabilities with a swath width of 40 kilometers.

One unofficial social media post earlier declaring launch success along with launch images was later deleted from Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter (see Twitter

Saturday’s mission was the fourth Chinese failure of 2020 from 26 launches. Inaugural launches of the Long March 7A and the Expace Kuaizhou-11 failed, while an issue with the workhorse Long March 3B led to the loss of the Indonesian Palapa-N1

The launch anomaly also brings into question two further Kuaizhou-1A launches planned for Sept. 17 and 22. Airspace closure notices were issued for all three launches in recent days. In 2020 three U.S. launches (also including new LauncherOne and Astra rockets) and an Iranian orbital launch attempt have also ended in failure. (...)

Chinese smallsat launcher fails
September 12, 2020 Stephen Clark

A Kuaizhou 1A rocket takes off Saturday from the Jiuquan launch base. Credit: CASIC

(...) The rocket launches from a road-mobile transporter, and consists of three solid-fueled boost stages and a liquid-fueled orbital injection stage.

The small Jilin 1 Gaofen 02C spacecraft was supposed to join a fleet of commercial Earth-imaging satellites owned by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co. Ltd. Sixteen Jilin 1-series spacecraft have successfully launched since 2015.

The Jilin 1 Gaofen 02C satellite was designed to collect imagery with a resolution of better than 2.5 feet (76 centimeters), supporting applications in natural resource and environmental monitoring, according to the CASIC launch announcement, which was later deleted.

The launch Saturday was the first failure of a Kuaizhou 1A rocket in 10 flights since 2017. A more powerful variant of the Kuaizhou family, named the Kuaizhou 11, failed on its inaugural launch in July. (...)

China launched a Long March 11 solid-propellant carrier rocket from a ship in the Yellow Sea on Tuesday morning, sending nine satellites into orbit in the nation's second sea-based launch mission.

The Long March 11-HY2 — the 10th member of the Long March 11 family — blasted off at 9:22 am from the Debo 3, a self-propelled deck barge that was modified for the mission.

About 13 minutes later, after traveling 535 kilometers, it deployed nine Jilin 1 high-resolution Earth-observation satellites — three to take videos and six to take photographs — in sun-synchronous orbits.

Each of the satellites, developed by Changguang Satellite Technology in Changchun, Jilin province, weighs about 42 kilograms. They will provide remote-sensing services to users in fields such as agriculture, forestry, land resources and environmental protection.

JIUQUAN, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday sent a new ocean-monitoring satellite into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

A Long March-4B rocket carrying the Haiyang-2C (HY-2C) satellite took off at 1:40 p.m. (Beijing Time), according to the launch center.

The HY-2C, the country's third ocean dynamic environment satellite, can provide all-weather and round-the-clock observation of wave height, sea surface height, wind and temperature.

Onboard equipment enables the new satellite to provide information on the identification of vessels, and to receive, store and transmit buoy measurement data in China's offshore and other marine areas.

Developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the HY-2C will form a network with the previous HY-2B and subsequent HY-2D, scheduled for launch next year, to carry out high-precision maritime environment monitoring.

The planned satellite network will be capable of carrying out 80 percent of the world's sea surface wind monitoring within six hours, said sources with the China National Space Administration.

Unlike the previous satellites HY-2A and HY-2B -- the HY-2C will be placed in an orbit with a 66-degree inclination, which will enhance its capability to revisit wind fields rapidly, according to the administration.

As of August, China has independently developed and launched seven Haiyang satellites, named after the Chinese word for "ocean" and given the "HY" designation for short. The country launched its first ocean monitoring satellite, the HY-1A, on May 15, 2002.

In 2019, China's gross marine products accounted for 9 percent of its GDP. The follow-up network of HY-2 satellites will provide data support for marine disaster relief, meteorology, transportation and scientific applications, and help further enhance the country's marine monitoring capabilities, generating more sustainable, predictable benefits, the satellite developer said.

Monday's launch was the 347th by the Long March rocket series. Enditem

(...) Built by the China Academy of Space Technology, a state-owned aerospace contractor, the Haiyang 2C satellite carries a radar altimeter and microwave scatterometer to measure the height of waves and monitor maritime wind field. The spacecraft also carries a payload to track ships and a data collection system to relay measurements from ocean buoys to forecast centers and other users.

China plans to launch its next oceanography satellite, Haiyang 2D, in 2021.

The Haiyang satellite series is named for the Chinese word for “ocean.”

China operates two families of Haiyang satellites — the Haiyang 1-series and Haiyang 2-series — that carry different sets of oceanography instruments. The latest member of the Haiyang 1 family, Haiyang 1D, launched in June with imaging sensors to measure ocean color, data which officials said will help track pollution and natural ocean constituents such as chlorophyll.
