W mediach społecznościowych piszą o tej informacji, że to plotka ("There're rumors that...").

(...) Commander Jing Haipeng, embarking on his fourth visit to space, spaceflight engineer Zhu Yangzhu and payload specialist and Beihang University professor Gui Haichao—the first Chinese civilian in space—make up the crew of the six-month-long Shenzhou-16 mission.

Zhu and Gui are the first individuals to fly to space from a third selection round of Chinese astronauts chosen in 2020.

The successful launch of the mission also means that, briefly, there are 17 astronauts in orbit for the first time. The four-person Axiom-2 mission is due to undock from the larger International Space Station later May 30.

At time of reporting six Chinese astronauts, five Americans, three Russians, two Saudis, and one Emarati astronaut were in orbit. In December 2021, 19 people were in space when the six-person crew of Blue Origin NS-19 briefly crossed the Karman line and joined crews aboard the ISS and Tiangong in space. (...)

The Shenzhou XVI spacecraft and its carrier, a Long March 2F rocket, are moved to their launch site at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China's Gobi Desert on Monday. WANG JIANGBO/FOR CHINA DAILY

China's next manned mission, Shenzhou XVI, is scheduled to be launched imminently to transport three astronauts to the Tiangong space station, China Central Television reported on Sunday.

The final all-system rehearsal took place on Sunday, the State broadcaster said, adding all systems involved in the mission have completed functional checks and pre-launch preparations.

The six-month Shenzhou XVI will be the nation's 11th manned space mission and the fifth crewed flight to the Tiangong. It will also become the first manned mission to the Tiangong after its completion, which was done during the Shenzhou XIV and XV flights.

The crew members, whose names have yet to be disclosed, will take over the massive orbital outpost from their peers in the Shenzhou XV crew — mission commander Major General Fei Junlong, Senior Colonel Deng Qingming and Senior Colonel Zhang Lu — who arrived on Nov 30. By the end of May, Fei's team will have been in orbit for six months.

According to the China Manned Space Agency, the Shenzhou XVI spacecraft and its carrier, a Long March 2F rocket, were moved to the service tower at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China's Gobi Desert.

Orbiting at about 400 kilometers above ground, the Tiangong currently consists of three major components, the Tianhe core module and the Wentian and Mengtian science lab modules — and is connected with two visiting craft, the Shenzhou XV crew ship and the Tianzhou 6 cargo ship.

The Shenzhou XVI spacecraft will set out on Tuesday morning to transport three Chinese astronauts to the Tiangong space station, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

It will be the debut flight for China's third generation of astronauts and will become the first time for any Chinese civilian to fly out of Earth.

Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Agency, said at a news conference on Monday morning at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China that the crew members — mission commander Major General Jing Haipeng, Colonel Zhu Yangzhu and Professor Gui Haichao — are scheduled to ride on board the Shenzhou XVI spaceship that will be lifted by a Long March 2F carrier rocket at 9:31 am Tuesday from the oasis-like Jiuquan center in the barren Gobi Desert.

The Long March 2F rocket would start to be filled with propellants at the service tower on Monday morning, he said.

After the Shenzhou XVI spacecraft enters the orbit, it will activate the rapid rendezvous-docking mode to approach and connect with the radial port on the Tianhe core module, according to the official.

Jing's team will take over the Tiangong space station from their peers in the Shenzhou XV, mission commander Major General Fei Junlong, Senior Colonel Deng Qingming and Senior Colonel Zhang Lu, who arrived on Nov 30. By now, Fei's crew has stayed in orbit for six months.

China discloses tasks of Shenzhou XVI manned space mission
Xinhua | Updated: 2023-05-29 13:55

JIUQUAN -- The Shenzhou XVI astronauts will conduct large-scale in-orbit tests and experiments in various fields as planned, announced a senior official from the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) at a press conference on Monday.

They are expected to make high-level scientific achievements in the study of novel quantum phenomena, high-precision space time-frequency systems, the verification of general relativity, and the origin of life, said Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the CMSA.

The Shenzhou XVI mission will also install electric propulsion cylinders and lift extravehicular cameras, Lin said.

In addition, this mission will complete the installation of large extravehicular application facilities such as radiation biological exposure experiment equipment, he said.

The Shenzhou XVI crew, consisting of Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao, will witness the dockings of the Tianzhou-5 cargo craft and the Shenzhou XVII crewed spaceship, as well as the departures of the Shenzhou XV manned spaceship and Tianzhou-5, he said.

They will give space lectures during their mission.

China's space station has entered the stage of application and development. Work handovers of different groups of astronauts and cargo supply missions will be implemented regularly in following missions.

According to Lin, the in-orbit work of astronauts mainly covers six categories.

The first is to operate the dockings and returns of crewed spaceships and assist the dockings and departures of cargo craft and survey telescopes, ensuring the regular personnel rotation and material supply.

The second is the maintenance of the space station complex, including the spacecraft status setting, in-orbit material management, platform equipment maintenance and inspection, equipment installation inside and outside the modules, and payload entry into and exit from the modules.

The third is health management of astronauts, including health status monitoring and in-orbit exercise and training.

The fourth is to conduct large-scale in-orbit scientific research and applications.

The fifth is the popularization of science, such as giving space lectures and shooting videos for public service.

The sixth is to handle emergent in-orbit failures, fix and replace faulty equipment, and conduct extravehicular maintenance when necessary, so as to ensure long-term stable operation of the space station.

Lin said large-scale space science and technology experiments will be carried out in the following flight missions, including almost 1,000 scientific research and application projects in four fields, namely space life science and human body research, microgravity physics science, space astronomy and Earth science, and new space technology and application.

The CMSA will release the solicitation details and guidelines for scientific and application projects for the application and the development stage of the country's space station to achieve full operation of the space station application resources and higher-quality application outcomes.

China will develop a new generation reusable near-Earth manned carrier rocket and near-Earth manned spaceship, Lin said.

The country will launch an extension module at an appropriate time and expand the basic configuration of the space station from the current T shape to a cross shape to further support the in-orbit scientific experiments and create better working and living conditions for astronauts.
