A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 FQ flew past Earth at 0.86 LD / 0.00220 (329 115 km / 204 502 miles) on March 23, 2019. This is the 13th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and 5th this month.
The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Catalina Sky Survey on March 25, two days after it made a close approach to our planet.
Its estimated diameter is between 10 and 23 m (32.8 - 75.4 feet) and it flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 8.47 km/s at 18:17 UTC.
