Ostatnio podczas startu Chandrayaan-3.
Była dyrektorem projektu RISAT-1 , pierwszego samodzielnie opracowanego w Indiach satelity radarowegego.

The agency's PRO told ANI that Valarmathi passed away due to a cardiac arrest, adding that she breathed her last on Sunday at a private hospital in Chennai.

“She was a part of the Range Operations Programme Office at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre where she used to announce the countdown on all launches,” the ISRO PRO said.

Lt. Colonel Russell L. Rogers USAF (b. 1928) was killed OTD in 1967 when his parachute failed to open properly after his F-105 had an engine failure near Kadena AFB, Okinawa.  He was assigned to the X-20 'astronaut' program between 1960 & 1963 & afterward returned to active duty.

Today we remember Lt. Col Russell Lee Rogers, USAF.
Rogers was a test pilot when chosen for the X-20 program. After the X-20 program, he stayed in the USAF. Rogers died when his plane engine failed in Japan on Sept 13, 1967. He ejected, but his parachute failed to deploy.

Former MOL astronaut & retired USN Captain John L. "Jack" Finley died OTD in 2006, aged 70, of complications from diabetes. Selected in the 1st MOL group in 1965 he resigned in 1968 & returned to other assignments in the USN. He retired in May 1980 to enter the corporate world.

Po krótkim okresie ciężkiej choroby w wieku 61 lat zmarł Daniel de Chambure .   
Był szefem biura ESA w Kourou od kwietnia 2022.
Spędził 35 lat pracując w ESA, dołączając do Dyrekcji ds. Inżynierii i Technologii Kosmicznej w 1988.
Wniósł duży wkład w wystrzelenie JWST na pokładzie Ariane 5 w 12.2021.

W wieku 81 lat zmarł David Dale, były dyrektor ds. wsparcia technicznego i operacyjnego ESA. 
Został mianowany na to stanowisko przez Radę ESA na posiedzeniu w dniu 20.03.1997 na czteroletnią kadencję co oznaczało kierowanie ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre) i ESOC (European Space Operations Centre).
W 1986 został mianowany kierownikiem projektu w ramach Program Solar Terrestrial.
Z tego programu wyłoniły się misje SOHO i Cluster.
W 1988 został szefem Działu Projektów Naukowych ESA.

From UK, David joined ESA (as ESRO) in 1974. He was Project Manager for ESA's Giotto mission, then nominated as Project Manager for the Solar Terrestrial Programme (which became SOHO and Cluster missions) in 1986. In 1988 he became Head of ESA’s Scientific Projects Department before being appointed as Director of Technical and Operational Support, and Head of ESTEC and ESOC in 1997.

NASA astronaut Frank Caldeiro, 51, dies

October 5, 2009 — Fernando "Frank" Caldeiro, a NASA astronaut and the first person of Argentinean descent to train for a space flight, died on Saturday after a two and a half year battle with brain cancer. He was 51.

First hired by NASA in 1991 as an expert in cryogenics and propulsion systems for the Kennedy Space Center's safety and mission assurance office in Florida, he took part in 52 space shuttle launches before being chosen as an astronaut candidate in 1996.

At a time when film was still being used, Weaver had not filled up the 36 frames on his roll by the time the shuttle started breaking apart, while other photographers who had gone through their film needed to rewind the roll before inserting a new roll of film.

Because of that, Weaver was able to capture the horrifying images of Challenger as it disintegrated into forking plumes of smoke and flames.
