The spacecraft's pressurised instrument compartment began to leak as soon as the spacecraft entered orbit around Mars, which controllers believed to be the result of a micrometeoroid impact during orbital insertion.

Witam,

No Dream Is Too High: Life Lessons from a Man Who Walked on the Moon
Buzz Aldrin; Ken Abraham

Beloved American hero and astronaut Buzz Aldrin reflects on the wisdom, guiding principles, and irreverent anecdotes he’s gathered—both in outer space and on earth—through his event-filled life, in this inspiring Buzz Aldrin autographed book.

Everywhere he goes, crowds gather to meet Buzz Aldrin. He is a world-class hero, a larger-than-life figurehead, best known of a generation of astronauts whose achievements surged in just a few years from first man in space to first men on the moon. Now he pauses to reflect and share what he has learned, from the vantage point not only of outer space but also of time: still a non-stop traveler and impassioned advocate for space exploration, Aldrin will be 86 in 2016.

No Dream Is Too High whittles down Buzz Aldrin’s event-filled life into a short list of principles he values, each illustrated by fascinating anecdotes and memories, such as:

· Second comes right after first. NASA protocol should have meant he was first on the moon, but rules changed just before the mission. How he learned to be proud of being the second man on the moon.

· Look for opportunities, not obstacles. Buzz was rejected the first time he applied to be an astronaut. Failure is an opportunity to learn to do better.

· Always maintain your spirit of adventure. For his 80th birthday, Buzz went diving in the Galapagos and hitched a ride on a whale shark. He stays fit, energetic, and fascinated with life.

No Dream Is Too High is a beautiful memento, a thought-provoking set of ideas, and a new opportunity for Buzz Aldrin to connect with the masses of people who recognize his unique place in human history.

Infinite Wonder: An Astronaut's Photographs from a Year in Space Hardcover – October 30, 2018

From the record-breaking astronaut, national hero, and best-selling author of Endurance, a breathtaking collection of photos documenting his journey on the International Space Station, the vastness of space, and the unparalleled beauty of our own home planet.

One's perspective shifts when one lives for an entire year--as Commander Scott Kelly, and no other American astronaut in history, has--in the isolating, grueling, and utterly unforgiving vacuum of space. Kelly's photos prove that this perspective--from 250 miles above earth--while hard-won, is also almost unspeakably beautiful. He mastered the rare art of microgravity photography. Using a Nikon D4 with a long 800mm lens and a 1.4x magnifying zoom lens, he panned the camera as the shutter released in order to compensate for the space station's velocity: 17,500 mph relative to the earth. Kelly's artist's eye helped make him a social media sensation, and here his photos are collected alongside his own commentary, which sets the images in their proper contexts, human and cosmic. Kelly captures sunsets, moonrises, the aurora borealis, and the luminous, hazy tapestry of the Milky Way. He presents snapshots of life and work on the International Space Station, from spacewalks to selfies. But above all--or floating amid all--he takes the earth itself as his celestial muse. Here are hurricanes, wrinkled mountains, New York City shining like a galaxy--glorious photographs that are, in themselves, a passionate argument for the preservation of our planet in the face of climate change and environmental destruction.

African Violet

Kelly's photographs -- like this shot he dubbed "African Violet" -- look like they could be microscopic scientific images, despite being shot hundreds of miles from Earth.

A carpet over the Middle East

Kelly tweeted this image from the ISS with the message, "Patches of emerald, amber and purplish-blue woven over #MiddleEast like a colorful carpet."

"I'm an OK photographer," Kelly told CNET. "I think my somewhat unique skill set was having an artistic eye when it came to photographing the earth, particularly the close up photos I called 'Earth Art'."

The Himalayas

A birds eye view of a frozen lake in the Himalayas.

True grit

Kelly tweeted this image in December 2015, after almost nine months in space, with the message "Get over your mountains with rock and grit."

Iran

A photograph of the snowy foothills of Iran.

The Richat Structure

Also known as the "Eye of Africa," the Richat Structure is a geologic dome on the western edge of the Sahara, eroded over millions of years to show layers of sedimentary rock. It now makes for what Kelly calls a "wall-worthy art photo."

Cloud over Japan

The ISS frames an image of Japan, taken in January 2016.

A new perspective

Scott Kelly tweeted this image of Earth after 330 days in Space, saying he had always been counting up through the days during his year in space. But with 10 days left in February 2016, he started counting down.

International Space Station  Architecture Beyond Earth

In 1984 President Ronald Reagan gave NASA the go-ahead to build a Space Station. A generation later, the International Space Station is an established and highly successful research centre in Earth orbit. The history of this extraordinary project is a complex weave of powerful threads – political, diplomatic, financial and technological among them – but none is more fascinating than the story of its design. This book provides the first comprehensive account of the International Space Station’s conception, development and assembly in space. As a highly accessible chronicle of a complex piece of design and engineering, it will appeal to readers far beyond the space field.

NASA Astronaut Nicole Stott, a veteran of International Space Station Expeditions 20 and 21 and Shuttle Missions STS-128, STS-129 and STS-133, introduces the book with a personal memoir – ‘A Home in Space’.

David Nixon is an architect with a particular interest in designing for space exploration. In 1978 he co-founded Future Systems with Jan Kaplicky and was among a handful of architects invited to work on the design of the International Space Station. He later established an office in Los Angeles to focus on work across the space field. In 2000 he formed Astrocourier to develop miniature spaceflight experiments for schools. This book is the result of seven years’ research.

‘If you are a space fan, fascinated by the kind of venture the International Space Station represents, this book is an absolute must, full of juicy details and intriguing insights.’
— Popular Science, March 2016

‘This book should be essential reading for a wide audience – anyone who wants an insight into the field of human spaceflight in general, and the International Space Station in particular.’
— Madhu Thangavelu, Sky at Night, June 2016

‘Arguably the best book available for a serious and deeply detailed analysis of the origin, evolution, development and fabrication of the largest international space endeavor yet mounted.’
— David Baker, Spaceflight, June 2016

‘As a history of the planning, design, assembly and functioning of the Space Station, this book is unlikely to be surpassed.’
— Andrew Crumey, Literary Review, June 2016

Kolejna książka (album fotograficzny) weterana długiego pobytu na ISS Terry'ego Virtsa z przedmową weterana najkrótszego pobytu na powierzchni Księżyca  :)

View From Above

This majestic National Geographic photography book offers a spectacular view of Earth from outer space, featuring aerial imagery taken from the International Space Station by NASA astronaut Terry Virts.

Few people get the experience of seeing the world from outer space -- and no one has taken as many pictures of Earth from above as Terry Virts. Celebrated NASA astronaut, pilot of the space shuttle, crew member on Soyuz, and commander of the International Space Station, Virts has spent more than 200 days in space -- and very few of those days went by without his reaching for his camera.

Now as never before, Virts shares the astronaut's view of the world, offering astounding aerial views of our planet and the vastness that surrounds it. The colors, shapes, details -- and the stories they tell -- are endlessly fascinating. Virts's book marries his stunning photographs with glimpses of everyday life in orbit. And amid this amazing show of Earth spectacles, he reflects on how the astronaut's point of view has shaped his life and spirit. Filled with magnificent photographs that will astonish and inspire, this book -- and its intrepid author -- becomes our guide to a new way of looking at the world.

"Planeta Mars" Hurnika zaliczona... czyta się w sumie szybko (bo dużo obrazków).
Wrażenia mam mieszane i to podwójnie (bo ją kupiłem).

No i pominięta została Deep Space 2 - o Polar Landerze owszem czytamy, ale żeby tam były jeszcze jakieś penetratory - nic.
