TOUCHDOWN! The Soyuz MS-04 capsule has landed in Kazakhstan, capping the 289-day voyage of record-setting NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson and the 135-day flight of cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and NASA flight engineer Jack Fischer. Whitson was a member of the Expedition 50, 51 and 52 crews, while Yurchikhin and Fischer logged time on Expeditions 51 and 52.
Whitson completed 4,623 orbits of Earth on her mission, logging 122.2 million miles since her launch in November 2016. Yurchikhin and Fischer orbited Earth 2,176 times and traveled 57.5 million miles since their April liftoff. (...)

The 58-year-old spaceflight veteran (Fyodor Yurchikhin) has now logged nearly 673 days in space. (...)
Fischer, a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, was a F-15 and F-22 test pilot and worked in the Pentagon before becoming an astronaut. He now has spent 135 days in space. (...)
Peggy Whitson just wrapped up her third spaceflight and now has just shy of
666 days of time in orbit. (...)
The crew will travel by helicopters to nearby Karaganda, Kazakhstan, for a traditional welcoming ceremony. Then the crew will split up, with Yurchikhin boarding a plane to the Russian cosmonaut training center in Star City, Russia, while Whitson and Fischer board a European Space Agency jet to Cologne, Germany.
A NASA aircraft will pick up Whitson and Fischer in Cologne for the return trip to the astronaut training base in Houston. Hurricane Harvey, which battered the Houston area over the last week, prevented the NASA jet from departing for Kazakhstan on time, and ESA provided a replacement airplane to retrieve Whitson and Fischer later today.
