Udany start Delty II z Joint Polar Satellite System-1 BY MICHAŁ MOROZ ON 19 LISTOPADA 2017
Oceanów i Atmosfery.
Wyposażony został w pięć głównych instrumentów naukowych: Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS), Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) oraz Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES).
NanosatelityMiRaTa – cubesat 3U. Demonstrator zminiaturyzowanego radiometru mikrofalowego oraz walidacja nowego odbiornika sygnału GPS. Oba ładunki zostaną wykorzystane do eksperymentu kalibracji radiometru przy pomocy tzw. okultacji radiowej GPS.
Buccaneer RMM – cubesat 3U. Wyposażony w antenę radiową do kalibracji systemu Jindalee Over-the-Horizon Radar Network (JORN).
Fox 1B (RadFxSat) – cubesat 1U. Test wpływu promieniowania kosmicznego na elektronikę pokładową.
EagleSat – cubesat 1U. Edukacyjny satelita testujący zachowanie kości pamięci w warunkach promieniowania kosmicznego.
MakerSat 0 – wydrukowany cubesat 1U, testujący cztery różne stopy plastiku w warunkach przestrzeni kosmicznej. Pozyskane informacje pozwolą na przeprowadzenie misi MakerSat 1, cubesata złożonego na pokładzie Międzynarodowej Stacji Kosmicznej.

(...) JPSS-1, which will be renamed NOAA-20 once it is in orbit, is the newest satellite in the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) fleet of polar-orbit weather satellites. JPSS-1 is the first of four planned Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) spacecraft, successors to the organization’s current-generation Polar Operational Environmental Satellite (POES) constellation. (...)
POES was itself the successor to the United States’ first operational weather satellite program, TIROS. (...)
Delta II first flew in February 1989, with a Delta II 6925 delivered the first operational GPS satellite to orbit. The 6000-series was an interim version of the rocket using Castor-4A boosters – the 7000-series which uses GEM-40s first flew in November 1990. (...)

The five CubeSats set for release from the Delta 2 rocket are:
MiRaTA, a compact atmospheric sensing nanosatellite from Massachusetts Institute of Technology that will measure temperature, water vapor, and cloud ice in the atmosphere for severe weather monitoring and the study of cyclone structure.
MakerSat-0, a CubeSat from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, carrying several student-build experimental payloads.
RadFxSat, a technology demonstration mission to monitor ionizing radiation effects in a memory integrated circuit from Vanderbilt University and AMSAT.
EagleSat-1, a scientific investigation developed by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, that will attempt to measure the decay of the satellite’s orbit over time by the means of an unlocked Global Positioning System receiver in the space environment.
Buccaneer, a CubeSat developed by the Australian Department of Defence and the University of New South Wales that carries a 3.2-meter deployable antenna to calibrate over-the-horizon radars used by the Australian military.
