04.01.2004 MER Spirit wylądował w kraterze Gusiew (14,59° S, 175,3° E).

Spirit wylądował pomyślnie na powierzchni Marsa !
  04.01.2004 o 04:25 sonda MER-A z pojazdem Spirit na pokładzie pomyślnie wylądowała na Marsie.

Lądowanie nastąpiło o 04:35 (moment uzyskania sygnału - czas biegu sygnału z Marsa na Ziemię wynosił w chwili lądowania 9 minut 28 sekund).
Miejsce lądowania różniło się od zakładanego zaledwie o 10 km.

3 janvier 2004, heure de Californie où se trouve le JPL,
Il y a 20 ans, le rover Spirit se posait sur Mars,
dans le cratère de Gusev.
Sa fin de mission a été annoncée en 2011 après presque 7 ans d'activité et 7,7 km parcourus. Spirit s'est enlisé dans une dune.
