Dziś francuska astronautka z grupy ESA 2022 (http://lk.astronautilus.pl/astros/esa2022.htm) kończy 41 lat.

W latach 2001-2003 Sophie studiowała inżynierię i ukończyła ISAE-SUPAERO w Tuluzie we Francji, gdzie specjalizowała się w dynamice lotu statków kosmicznych i samolotów.
Pilotka helikoptera sil powietrznych Francji w randze podpułkownika (lieutenant colonel) została 23 listopada 2022 wybrana do nowej grupy astronautów ESA.
Jest najstarsza z grupy (http://lk.astronautilus.pl/astros/esa2022.htm), więc może jako pierwsza poleci na dłużej na ISS ?.
Ale przed nią jeszcze zapewne 2. astronautów z grupy 2009 odbędzie swoje 3-cie loty ( teraz chyba czekają na nominacje do załóg: Alexander Gerst (http://lk.astronautilus.pl/astros/536.htm) i Luca Salvo Parmitano (http://lk.astronautilus.pl/astros/529.htm).)

Sophie Adenot zapisała się w historii francuskiego lotnictwa.
Pilot helikoptera, również pilot testowy, została jedenastym francuskim astronautą i drugą kobietą z naszego kraju, która dołączyła do tego bardzo ekskluzywnego klubu .
W wieku zaledwie 40 lat ma już za sobą długą karierę wojskową, w Siłach Powietrznych i Kosmicznych, ale także w DGA Flight Tests .
Jej pierwsza misja powinna zabrać ją na Międzynarodową Stację Kosmiczną.

Sophie Adenot, nouvelle astronaute française sélectionnée par l'Agence spatiale européenne (ESA) après Thomas Pesquet, a démarré son entraînement à Cologne en Allemagne. Interview avec cette pilote d'hélicoptère, ancienne étudiante du MIT, qui se réjouit déjà de mener des expériences à bord de la Station spatiale internationale.
La nouvelle astronaute française, Sophie Adenot, a commencé son entraînement à l’European Astronaut Center (EAC) de Cologne (Allemagne) avec les quatre autres membres de sa promotion. Comme Thomas Pesquet par le passé, elle se prépare à partir dans l'espace, d'abord sur la Station spatiale internationale (ISS) et peut-être pour des missions lunaires à l'horizon 2030. Un mois après le début du programme, la pilote d'hélicoptère de 40 ans, lieutenant-colonel de l'armée de l'Air, nous livre ses premières impressions.
Sciences et Avenir : Comment passe-t-on de l’habitacle d’un hélicoptère à l’ISS ?
Sophie Adenot : On a commencé les cours de médecine spatiale, de compréhension de l’environnement spatial et des contraintes fascinantes que l’espace impose sur le corps humain. C’est un tout nouveau domaine d’apprentissage. Je pense qu’il y a aussi des choses qui ne peuvent qu’être vécues à bord pour comprendre comment ça se passe.
"Je suis comme une enfant dans un magasin de jouets"
Après un mois de formation, l’entraînement correspond-il à l’image que vous vous en étiez faite ?
Je suis vraiment comme une enfant dans un magasin de jouets. J’ai envie de tout voir et de tout découvrir. C’est une formation de très haut niveau qui est encore mieux que la plus belle de mes attentes, avec une équipe de talents incroyables dans ma promotion.
Avez-vous un domaine scientifique de prédilection ?
J’aime la diversité, je suis heureuse de la variété des domaines dans ce métier. Au MIT, j’ai beaucoup apprécié ce que j’ai étudié : les interactions homme-machine. Il s’agit de la conception d’un véhicule, que ce soit un véhicule spatial, un hélicoptère ou encore un avion, dans lequel le binôme être humain et machine est optimisé afin de fonctionner le mieux possible. En l’occurrence, j’ai fait ma thèse de Master of science sur le thème de la gravité artificielle (qui sert à combattre les effets de l'absence de pesanteur sur le corps humain dans l'espace, ndlr) et de la recherche sur le [...]

Sophie Adenot dans le grand bain. La Française commence ce lundi un cycle d'entraînement aux côtés des cinq autres membres de la nouvelle promotion d'astronautes de l'Agence spatiale européenne (ESA) annoncée en novembre 2022. Pendant les douze prochains mois que la petite classe passera au Centre européen des astronautes de Cologne, en Allemagne, les élèves apprendront tout ce dont ils ont besoin pour s'envoler dans l'espace au cours des prochaines années.
Si les différentes phases de son entraînement se déroulent rapidement et qu'elle est retenue pour partir en mission dès la fin de sa formation, Sophie Adenot pourrait prétendre à l'espace à l'horizon 2026. "C'est le grand minimum" expliquait l'ingénieur sur BFMTV en novembre, peu après l'annonce de sélection.

Sélectionnée parmi 22.500 candidats européens, Sophie Adenot filera bientôt vers la station spatiale internationale. Technique, dextérité, résistance physique, formation médicale… Celle qui sera la deuxième Française à se rendre dans l'espace après Claudie Haigneré, se prépare au voyage au sein du Centre d'entraînement des astronautes à Cologne, en Allemagne. Et ses journées sont bien remplies. "Je me rends compte aujourd'hui de la densité de l'entraînement et de la densité des tâches à maîtriser. C'est très pluridisciplinaire. Je pense que trois années minimum d'entraînement, ce n'est pas de trop", confie-t-elle à la caméra de TF1.
Un entraînement intense
À bord d'une réplique de son futur lieu de travail, la nouvelle recrue a pour première mission de mémoriser tous les termes techniques et les acronymes. "Un des premiers boulots d'après tous les anciens astronautes", s'amuse-t-elle dans le reportage de TF1 en tête de cet article. La jeune femme passe également du temps dans l'eau, où l'on est comme en apesanteur. Elle apprend à se mouvoir au fond du bassin du centre d'entraînement, et ainsi mimer les futures sorties en scaphandre dans l'espace.
Son instructeur, Hervé, lui indique par ailleurs comment utiliser les outils au travers de gants de combinaison spatiale. Sophie s'exerce aussi à mener des expériences dans un caisson étanche. Un outil pratique pour éviter la dispersion de substances dans l'air de la station, mais difficile à manier. "J'imaginais bien que c'était important d'avoir tout cet entraînement, maintenant de le faire, ça ajoute une sacrée étape", explique-t-elle.

Selon le ministère des Armées, Sophie Adenot, va commencer désormais, «la deuxième partie de sa préparation». Une formation «qui sera dispensée au Johnson Space Center », un centre de la NASA à Houston au Texas. D’après France info, l’astronaute pourrait être envoyée dans l’espace à la mi-2026 pour une première mission de six mois au sein de la station spatiale internationale.

Indeed, spaceflight requires:
✔️ to memorize knowledge on facts / systems,
✔️ to acquire complex skills.
Each step of the way, the instructors make sure we are ready for more complex skills training & classes.
🚁 It was the same as a pilot -> many evaluations throughout the carrier to ensure we have proficiency & competencies.
Our graduation ceremony is coming up… (on April 22nd -more info in a future publication).

🤩 En plein air pendant 5 jours, avec beaucoup de neige. Woohoo ! Ceux qui me connaissent savent à quel point j'aime être en extérieur et en montagne. J'étais donc TRÈS contente !
🌍 Pourquoi apprendre à survivre dans différents environnements ? Au cas où le véhicule spatial atterrirait dans une zone reculée au retour de la mission…
🏔️ Cette formation nous a permis d’apprendre et de pratiquer les compétences suivantes : faire un feu dans la nature même lorsque c’est humide, gérer les blessures dues au froid, gérer l'hypothermie, créer une civière à partir de matériel improvisé, construire un igloo, dormir dans la neige avec des températures < à 0°C, s’orienter et avancer sans appareils électroniques, communiquer efficacement en cas d’urgence, se signaler et se préparer à une récupération en hélicoptère, etc.
🚁 Cet hélicoptère était un AS350B3 Ecureuil d'Airbus Helicopters. Je connais assez bien cet hélicoptère pour avoir volé dessus en tant que pilote d'essai. Ce vol était un vol d'entraînement pour les équipes locales de secours en montagne. Pour une fois, je suis restée au sol, ce qui donne un autre point de vue 😉.
💡Cette semaine a également été une très bonne occasion de mettre en pratique nos compétences en tant que “leader” et “membre d’équipage”. Nos instructeurs nous ont donné différents scénarios chaque jour, et nous avons pu expérimenter chacun des rôles.
🙏Nous avons été accompagnés lors de cette aventure par les instructeurs Gerard, Stani et Ross, et épaulés par 👩🚀

Super fier de @Soph_astro et @Raph_Astro pour leur première désignation sur une mission ! 🧑🏻🚀👨🏻🚀Sophie devrait voler au printemps 2026, et Raphaël en automne. C’est une reconnaissance de leurs compétences bien sûr (que j’avais appréciées moi-même pendant l’entraînement 🛫🛬), mais aussi une excellente nouvelle pour l’Europe🇪🇺, qui continue sa présence dans l’espace ✨, pour que la recherche et l’exploration bénéficient à ses citoyens 🌍. Ça va parler pas mal français dans la station spatiale en 2026 😎 Bon courage pour l’entraînement 💪 et on suivra ça de près !

L'astronaute française Sophie Adenot sera la première de la promotion 2022 des astronautes européens à s'envoler vers la Station spatiale internationale, au printemps 2026, a annoncé mercredi l'agence spatiale européenne (ESA). Pilote d'hélicoptère, elle deviendra ainsi la deuxième astronaute française de l'histoire à partir en orbite, trente ans après Claudie Haigneré. «C'est un pas de géant», a réagi Sophie Adenot, depuis le centre spatial de la Nasa à Houston où elle s'entraîne. «Une vraie fierté ! Sophie Adenot est un modèle d'engagement scientifique au féminin pour toutes nos jeunes filles», a déclaré à l'AFP la ministre de la Recherche, Sylvie Retailleau.

Dyscyplina sportu bardzo wymagająca dla uczestników.

⛵️ How I see the Vendée Globe:
🧳 The adventure in XXL!
😎 Passionate sailors who make a childhood dream come true
🫶 Incredibly close-knit teams who help them prepare for years
🌎 Trajectories passing through Point Nemo, where the closest humans will be onboard the International Space Station!
👀 Intense training before departure: everything is thoroughly thought -> risk management, emergency medical procedures, equipment repair, survival equipment proficiency…
🧑🚀 That’s a lot in common with the astronauts’ space missions!
Except that skippers set off to do the Vendée Globe solo & without assistance... whereas astronauts are part of a crew and with permanent assistance of control centers.
Immense respect to the skippers!
I love sailing and I send my encouragement to all of them!
Be strong 💪 and make us dream 🤩! You are living a wonderful human adventure...

L’@AJPAE a décerné ce soir son prix Icare 2024 à l’astronaute de l’ESA @Soph_astro, pilote d’essai de l’ @Armee_de_lair sélectionnée par l’@esa dans sa Promotion 2022 d’astronautes.
Actuellement à l’entrainement à @NASA_Johnson en vue de son décollage début 2026 pour une mission de six mois, Sophie était représentée par @asbradelle, directrice de la communication de l’ESA, qui a accepté le prix en son nom.
Très honorée d’avoir reçu le prix Icare 2024 qui a récompensé précédemment tant de personnes qui m’ont inspirée – astronautes, chercheurs, aviatrices et aviateurs militaires ou civils.
Remerciements aux journalistes de l’@AJPAE qui me permettent, au travers de leurs publications, de partager cette aventure spatiale avec le plus grand nombre !

2024 was truly not an ordinary year! 🚀 In just a few weeks, we’ll hit the one-year mark before the start of this 6-month mission… an amazing journey to the International Space Station.
My team keeps growing.
My skills expand day by day.
And I feel good vibes at every step of my astronaut training, thanks to the wonderful people I meet and thanks to your positive feedback– thank you! 🙏
I savor with deep gratitude every moment of this human, scientific, sporting, and technical adventure.

Four years ago, French ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet performed his 3rd EVA during his Alpha mission.
Did you know? Of the ten French astronauts who have flown to space (as of now 😉), only four have ever spacewalked!
🔹 1988: Jean-Loup Chrétien, first French astronaut & first European to perform an EVA.
🔹 1999: Jean-Pierre Haigneré also exits the Mir space station.
🔹 2002: Philippe Perrin helps assemble the ISS during three spacewalks from space shuttle Endeavour!
🔹 2017 & 2021: With six spacewalks and nearly 40 hours spent outside the ISS, @Thom_astro
🥇 tops the list of the 13 Europeans who’ve gone on an EVA.
🔹 2022: She's Italian, but did part of her studies at @ISAE_officiel
! Samantha Cristoforetti becomes the first European woman to conduct a spacewalk.
Each EVA pushes human and technological limits. In the wider context of spaceflight, a spacewalk is truly an adventure within the adventure!
We train to perform complex, physiogically demanding and high-risk tasks, in an environment that’s anything but ordinary. The moment you exit the airlock, the view is so breathtaking you have to stay 100% focused to remember both your mission… and the risks involved. Special shoutout to my Italian colleague @astro_luca
, whose helmet started to fill with water 💦 during one of his EVAs. Hats off to Luca, who always stayed calm!
🤿 Since then, a “snorkel” has been added to the spacesuit, and the CapCom (the only person in direct contact with the astronauts during an EVA) now regularly asks for a ‘HAP check’: the astronaut tilts their head back to make sure the moisture-absorbing pad at the neck is still dry.

PVH, short for Premier Vol Habité (First Human Spaceflight) 🧑🚀🚀 – that was the name of the mission flown by the first French in space, Jean-Loup Chrétien… The tradition of naming French missions after stars or constellations had not yet been established!
Jean-Loup Chrétien launched on 24 June 1982 to the Salyut 7 space station, as part of a CNES-INTERCOSMOS mission. He spent nearly eight days in orbit and carried out around ten French experiments in astronomy 🔭, biology 🧪, materials science 🔬 and medicine 🩺. He even performed the very first ultrasound in space!
Eleven years later, in 1993, @CNES founded an operational structure that enables scientists to prepare and conduct a rich variety of experiments in microgravity. Today, the CADMOS teams are working hard to prepare the French experiments for the upcoming εpsilon mission! 🙏

Friday, 20 June 2025. I'm in Dayton, Ohio, as part of my training with NASA…
It’s 4 a.m. and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (@AFmuseum
) is opening its doors just for me – a huge thank you 🙏 A bit later that morning, I’ll be live with the #SalonduBourget to reveal the name – εpsilon – and patch of the mission I’ve been assigned to!
This is one of the world’s largest aviation museum: more than 350 flying machines 🤩 are displayed across 1.12 million square feet! (That’s over 19 football fields!)
Together with Melanie and Tyler, we’re doing final checks before going live with Paris. Behind me: Endeavour, the Apollo 15 command module… 🚀🌕 In it, NASA astronaut Alfred M. Worden spent three days alone orbiting the Moon in July 1971, while David R. Scott and James B. Irwin landed the lunar module Falcon on the surface. Apollo 15 was the first mission to drive on Moon 🏎️, a giant leap forward!
Visiting a museum, seeing aircraft and space vehicles up close, imagining being in the cockpit… This has nurtured my space dreams ✨ since childhood.
There’s something truly magical about standing face-to-face with the very machines you've read so much about. And that magic? It works at any age.
Standing there gave me a boost of energy and inspiration for the next part of the day: centrifuge training!

This poem is the first in a series I will write throughout the mission, capturing what the journey feels like from the inside.
This one is about patience and resilience. I wanted to read it to you before launch…

Patience and resilience
I sit in grass, the sun is warm,
Soft sandy earth, the day is calm,
Wind in my hair, I breathe in slow,
Eyes on Falcon, ready to go.
The gusty winds whisper hold/wait
So patience helps our hearts stay safe.
Our rocket waits, so tall and still,
The Dragon sleeps beside the hill,
Engines quiet, dreams on hold,
Bright metal wings, brave and bold,
The day will move when winds allow,
So patience teaches us to bow.
No dream comes true in just one day,
Patience resilience that’s the way,
So many hands have helped us through,
Teams who worked hard, steady and true.
Thank you all who helped us grow—
Together we make the dream go.
Patience… my guide, my inner light,

Hier, après avoir appris que notre lancement de Falcon était retardé par des vents forts, je me suis assise dans l’herbe face à la fusée à KSC Cap Canaveral, et j’ai commencé à écrire…

What a moment to watch a colleague you’ve supported along their journey finally lift off 🚀
It’s a mix of emotions - the tension as you cross fingers and toes that everything goes well, and at the same time the excitement for them as they’re about to begin the same adventure you experienced years ago. The ISS is one of humanity’s most unique workplaces. Living and working up there is an adventure that changes you forever.

🚀🧑🏻🚀Dans quelques heures, @Soph_astro va s’élancer vers le rêve de sa vie : sa première mission vers la Station spatiale internationale.
🤝 Je me souviens encore de notre rencontre suite à la sélection de 2009 qui nous a rapprochés, de tout son parcours, méthodique, pendant les années qui ont suivies, de ses questions, des étapes qu’elle a mises en place une par une sans jamais dévier un instant de son but : la sélection suivante, en 2022, qu’elle a brillamment réussie.
🌌Aujourd’hui, comment ne pas imaginer l’excitation melée d’incrédulité qui doit l’habiter, l’envie de performance et le léger trac, les yeux qui brillent mais le pincement au ventre, que tous ressentent à l’approche du premier décollage.🥹
Le sourire qui tremble un peu au moment de vraiment partir. Ça n’a rien de facile de quitter la terre et les siens aussi longtemps. Rien du tout.
🔬🌍 Mais c’est important, et ça en vaut tellement la peine. Pour le progrès scientifique, bien sûr, mais aussi pour le supplément d’âme que ça nous donne à nous, qui restons sur la Terre, de voir quelqu’un réaliser son rêve de gosse, d’avoir surmonté tous les obstacles, d’avoir persévéré, progressé, d’y avoir cru, pour enfin se catapulter dans l’aventure d’une vie, et d’emmener un peu de notre humanité avec elle.
⭐💪 Nul doute qu’elle a fait tout ce qu’il est humainement possible de faire pour être prête. Alors vas-y Sophie, allume le ciel ! On est tous avec toi. 🫰
