Charles Moss Duke, Jr. (http://lk.astronautilus.pl/astros/57.htm) jest 57. człowiekiem w kosmosie oraz 10. na Księżycu.
Pełnił funkcję pilota LM "Orion".
Stał się również pierwszym bliźniakiem, który poleciał w kosmos.
Jest najmłodszą osobą, która spacerowała po Księżycu oraz obecnie jednym z 4. żyjących ludzi, którzy zostawili ślady stóp na powierzchni tego globu.
Jego jedyny lot kosmiczny trwał 11d 01h 51m 04s.
Na powierzchni Księżyca odbył 3 spacery kosmiczne, które trwały łącznie 20h 14m 14s.
Pozostawił na powierzchni Srebrnego Globu zafoliowane zdjęcie swojej rodziny, które ma być jedynym artefaktem tego rodzaju tam pozostawionym.

Charles Duke, który był członkiem załogi rezerwowej Apollo 13 zachorował 05.04.1970.
Okazało się, że zaraził się różyczką od trzyletniego syna przyjaciół.
Duke nie przechodził tej choroby w dzieciństwie i nie był na nią uodporniony.
NASA zbadała astronautów głównej załogi, ponieważ Duke spotykał się z nią do 3 kwietnia.
Lovell i Haise z głównej załogi byli odporni, zapewne z powodu uodpornienia w dzieciństwie.
Thomas Mattingly, pilot modułu dowodzenia Apollo 13 był jednak narażony na zakażenie wirusem wywołującego różyczkę, co spowodowało rekonfigurację składu załogi.

Much of what is mistaken for ancient origin, Duke suggested, is actually a product of the Great Flood — a deluge that, according to the Book of Genesis, only Noah and his family survived — and its aftermath. “When the earth was cooling down after the flood, the ice age came,” he said. “I don’t know how long it lasted, but several hundred years or more. And then it was warming up and it began to recede, the glaciers and stuff. There’s evidence that there were big, huge, massive lakes, and then when they burst, they sent the water down, and we see the Grand Canyon.
“There is no problem between science and creation,” he said. “God is the author of science. All the laws of nature, he put into effect. (...)

After an inspiring event during Farnborough Airshow with Apollo 11 CAPCOM and Apollo 16 astronaut Brigadier General Charles “Charlie” M. Duke Jr. (USAF, Ret.), Dr Walther Pelzer, Director General of the German Space Agency at DLR, met with NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson.
NASA’s Ignition event opened up new pathways to collaborate with international partners. With Orion and the European Service Module (ESM) already serving as central pillars of the Artemis program, there is a strong foundation for expanding mutually beneficial collaborations, including on the future Moon Base. By building on existing successes, the transatlantic cooperation between NASA, the Germany Space Agency at DLR and Europe as a whole is well positioned to unlock new opportunities in space exploration and science.
