Milton Orville Thompson (04.05.1926-06.08.1993)

01.04.1960 Milton Orville Thompson został wyselekcjonowany do 1 grupy programu Dyna-Soar.
Był jedynym cywilnym astronautą wybranym przez Siły Powietrzne.

10.1963 Milton Orville Thompson został wyselekcjonowany do 3. grupy pilotów X-15.

Wykonał 14 lotów w ramach programu X-15.

Osiągnął maksymalną wysokość lotu wynoszącą 65258 m (https://www.forum.kosmonauta.net/index.php?topic=5408.msg186422#msg186422).

03.1956 Thompson podjął pracę w NACA jako inżynier.

01.1958 został pilotem testowym.

1969 został mianowany dyrektorem projektów badawczych w NASA Dryden Flight Research Center w Edwards AFB w Kalifornii.

1975 Thompson został mianowany głównym inżynierem w Dryden Center i piastował to stanowisko aż do swojej śmierci.

06.08.1993 Milton Orville Thompson zmarł w Lancaster w Kalifornii w wieku 67. lat.

Milton 0. Thompson was a research pilot, Chief Engineer, and Director of Research Projects during a long career at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center. Thompson was hired as an engineer at the flight research facility on 19 March 1956, when it was still under the auspices of the NACA. He became a research pilot on 25 May 1958.
