(...) Meir, the Crew-12 commander, completed the first all-female spacewalk in 2019. She got married and had a daughter between her first and second spaceflights. On this mission, she’s hoping to spend a full 90-minute orbit looking out the station’s windows. And she’s bringing a stuffed rabbit so her 3-year-old, who has the same rabbit back home, can see it “having adventures” on the station.
“I hope that one day she will really realize that this absence was a meaningful one,” Meir said, “because it was an adventure that she got to share in, too, and that she'll have memories about. And hopefully it will inspire her and other people around the world.”
Fedyaev went to the station in 2023. He was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation and received the Yuri Gagarin Medal.
Adenot is the second woman from France to fly into orbit. And
Hathaway was a naval aviator and developmental test pilot before he was selected for astronaut training in 2021. He’s sporting a bushy mustache as a tribute to naval officers who’ve worn facial hair to sea.
“We've had a bunch of laughs about it. Some of our support staff, particularly our flight surgeons, have grown mustaches as well,” Hathaway said. “I'm looking forward to seeing what it does up there. How crazy it gets.” (...)
