Joshua Peter Kutryk został wyselekcjonowany w ramach Kanadyjska Agencja Kosmiczna grupa 4 (2017).

Posiada licencję  ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence), jest pilotem wojskowym.
Ma ponad 4000 godzin nalotu na ponad 40. typach samolotów.

2015 ukończył szkolenie z zakresu inżynierii lotniczej i kosmicznej w Viterbi School of Engineering na Uniwersytecie Południowej Kalifornii.

08.2015 rozpoczął pełnienie funkcji pilota-instruktora CF-18 i szefa Lotu Prób Operacyjnych i Ewaluacyjnych Myśliwców w 410. Eskadrze Szkolenia Operacyjnego Myśliwców Taktycznych w Cold.-Lake.

2017 został mianowany na pułkownika Sił Powietrznych.

22.11.2023 na konferencji prasowej CSA ogłoszono, że zostanie włączony do głównej załogi pierwszego operacyjnego lotu statku kosmicznego Starliner.

It takes a lot of training to be proficient operating Canadarm2. Today we used the @NASA_Johnson “dome” simulator to rehearse Cygnus track/capture procedures and malfunctions. Technical procedures, operational stress, challenging flying – a good training day!

Joshua Kutryk, who grew up in a farm in Alberta, is seen in a video by the Canadian Space Agency.

This week, Canada announced mission objectives for two of its four active astronauts. Joshua Kutryk will be traveling to the International Space Station in 2025 for a six-month stay. And Jenni Sidey-Gibbons has been named to the backup crew of Artemis 2, which will launch as early as next year for a trip around the moon. Jeremy Hansen is already part of that mission, meaning if he can’t make the trip, another Canadian will fly in his place. (...)

Przez komplikacje ze Starlinerem astronauta obchodzi urodziny na Ziemi.
Jest nadal oficjalnie przypisany do statku Starliner-1.
Pojawienie się niepotwierdzonej informacji, że Cardman, która miała dowodzić Crew-9 ma teraz być dowódcą tej załogi zdaje się sensownie wskazywać na Crew-11 Endeavour C206 F6.

(Endurance C210 F4 jest na orbicie, Freedom C212 F4 wrócił właśnie na Ziemię, Fram2 Resilience 207 F4 wkrótce leci),

? C213 F1 jest w procesie przygotowań.

Wygląda na to, że rok 2025 będzie rokiem 5. latających statków Crew Dragon.
