01.10.1985  Space Launch Complex 6 („Slick-6”) w Vandenberg AFB w Kalifornii został dopuszczony do operacji związanych ze startami promów kosmicznych.
W okresie od listopada 1984 do maja 1985 OV-101 Enterprise służył do operacji testowych w kompleksie startowym.

Space Launch Complex 6 ("Slick-6") at Vandenberg AFB, California was cleared for Space Shuttle operations OTD in 1985, with formal opening ceremonies on 15 October. Between November 1984 & May 1985 OV-101 Enterprise was used as a pathfinder for evaluating the launch facilities.

In 1977, the United Kingdom's King Charles III, a prince at the time, met with NASA astronauts Fred Haise, Gordon Fullerton, Richard H. Truly and Joe Engle, the crew of the Space Shuttle Enterprise.

15.03.1978 OV-101 Enterprise był transportowany na południe ulicą Rideout Road, w pobliże stacji straży pożarnej Redstone Arsenal w Centrum Lotów Kosmicznych NASA Marshall do budynku 4755 MSFC w celu przeprowadzenia serii testów pionowych drgań gruntu (MVGVT) na stanowisku testowym MSFC.
