After being carried aloft by a Boeing 747, it was released and made an unassisted landing at Edwards AFB, California. This was part of a series of approach and landing tests carried out at Edwards from February to October. On this day in 1985, Space Shuttle Enterprise was removed from the top of a modified Boeing 747 and lowered onto the tarmac at Dulles International Airport to join our collection. It eventually went on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center and is now at the @IntrepidMuseum.)

About 65,000 visitors were in attendance at NASA Dryden (Now Armstrong) to watch astronauts Fred Haise & Gordon Fullerton.

01.10.1985  Space Launch Complex 6 („Slick-6”) w Vandenberg AFB w Kalifornii został dopuszczony do operacji związanych ze startami promów kosmicznych.
W okresie od listopada 1984 do maja 1985 OV-101 Enterprise służył do operacji testowych w kompleksie startowym.

Space Launch Complex 6 ("Slick-6") at Vandenberg AFB, California was cleared for Space Shuttle operations OTD in 1985, with formal opening ceremonies on 15 October. Between November 1984 & May 1985 OV-101 Enterprise was used as a pathfinder for evaluating the launch facilities.
