Hermann Oberth, widely considered to be one of the founding fathers of modern rocketry & astronautics, was BTD 1894. Fascinated with the principles of space travel as a boy he would work on rocket research most of his life. Oberth died in 1989 aged 95. [Images courtesy NASA]
