Ingenuity zakończył sukcesem swój 25 lot i był to najbardziej ambitny lot. Podczas tego lotu został pobity rekord przebytej odległości podczas lotu i prędkości.

Geniu wyczynia rzeczy coraz bardziej niemożliwe. Kto by się spodziewał, że ten - za przeproszeniem - fruwający wypierdek - jest tak świetnie przemyślaną, skonstruowaną i wytrzymałą na warunki marsjańskie maszynką. Mnie najbardziej w jego konstrukcji zdumiewa wytrzymałość niewielkiej w końcu baterii. W duchu tej niebywale udanej misji ciężko nie móc się doczekać Dragonfly czy zapowiadanej w przyszłości misji wyraźnie większego helikoptera marsjańskiego.

Przypomnę, że wczoraj była rocznica pierwszego lotu Ingenuity. Przeżyjmy to jeszcze raz.

Thomas Zurbuchen z NASA potwierdził, że Ingenuity wykonał 26 lot i poleciał nad spadochronem Perseverance. Wkrótce zobaczymy pełny film z tego lotu.

Captured with Perseverance’s next-generation Mastcam-Z camera on April 2, the 397th Martian day, or sol, of the mission, the eclipse lasted a little over 40 seconds – much shorter than a typical solar eclipse involving Earth’s Moon. (Phobos is about 157 times smaller than Earth’s Moon.

Wyczytałem ciekawostkę, że lot 24 odbył się pół godziny wcześniej niż zwykle (o 9:30 zamiast o 10:00) i powrócono do 2537 obrotów na minutę.

We made it! Perseverance is at the delta, and gracing us with stunning images to pour over. Mars 2020 is officially out of "Rapid Traverse" mode, where we put the pedal to the metal and focused on driving. This week, we are back to standard operations, and the team is beginning our Delta Front Campaign. You can check out last week's blog for details on why exploring the delta is so exciting.

We haven't left the Crater Floor Campaign entirely behind us though, as we'll investigate the contact between the rocks of the crater floor and those that make up the delta, as well as between different types of crater floor rocks named 'Maaz' and 'Seitah.' Looking at contacts- the boundaries between different types of rocks- is a really important way for geologists to understand the sequence of events.

Did one type of rock gradually transition into another, or was the change abrupt? Does the contact represent a change in environment or how the rocks were deposited? Was there a large gap of time between the distinct types of rocks? These are all questions we can investigate at contacts, and these will help us to better understand the history of Jezero crater.

Jest uzupełnienie Flight Logu o lot 27. Przeleciał 307 metrów na wys. 10 metrów w ciągu 152.9 sekund.
