Восемь космонавтов (Алексей Леонов, Валерий Кубасов, Анатолий Филипченко, Николай Рукавишников, Владимир Джанибеков, Борис Андреев, Юрий Романенко, Александр Иванченко) и десять астронавтов (Томас Стаффорд, Вэнс Бранд, Доналд Слейтон, Алан Бин, Роналд Эванс, Джек Лаусма, Кэрол Бобко, Роберт Криппен,Роберт Овермайр, Ричард Трули) провели тренировки по всем аспектам совместного полёта: они отрабатывали действия на комплексном тренажёре и макете корабля «Союз» в Центре подготовки космонавтов и на тренажёре и макете корабля «Аполлон» в Космическом центре имени Джонсона в Хьюстоне (США). Wydaje mi się, że wciąż mocno niedoceniamy tej misji. A jednak, bez niej pewnie międzynarodowe misje by były tylko organizowane wewnątrz swoich bloków - USA+Japonia+Kanada+Europa Zachodnia vs państwa wokół ZSRR. A ta jednak się mocno wyróżniała.

Tom Stafford wrote the Foreword to Gemini, I interviewed Deke Slayton at JSC & I fondly recall the bear hugs from Alexei Leonov & Vance Brand remains a family friend.

The touchdown was 61 km northeast of Arkalyk & concluded the Soviets' participation in the historic ASTP mission.
