BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China's Mars probe Tianwen-1 on Sunday successfully carried out its second orbital correction, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

The probe conducted the orbital correction at 11 p.m. on Sunday (Beijing Time) after four of its 120N engines were in operation for 20 seconds. The performance of the 120N engines was tested simultaneously.

The probe has traveled in orbit for roughly 60 days so far, and was about 19 million km away from Earth. All of the probe's systems were in good condition, said the CNSA.

The orbital correction was carried out to ensure the probe follows the theoretical orbit as closely as possible. The probe carried out its first orbital correction on Aug. 2. (...)

Ponieważ powoli, bądź powoli, ale jednak zbliżamy się do Marsa, w którym dokładnie miejscu Chińczycy planują posadzić lądownik Tianwen-1 ?

Zapewne mają na oku kilka opcji miejsc lądowania, lecz przecież nie od razu ten ich lądownik siądzie na powierzchnię, lecz przez jakiś czas będzie krążył wokół Marsa, a kamery orbitera będą fotografowały te opcjonalne lądowiska i dopiero na podstawie uzyskanych danych, skierują lądownik w wybrane miejsce.

A dziś był udany manewr trajektorii Tianwen 1:

Good news for Tianwen-1. At 15:00 UTC/11 am ET today the spacecraft's main engine fired for 480 seconds to compete a scheduled deep space manoeuvre. Tianwen-1 has flown 210 million kilometers total and is ~29.4 million km from Earth.

Jest widać rozróżnienie między manewrem, a korektą trajektorii lotu sondy.

China's Mars probe completes third orbital correction

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Mars probe Tianwen-1 conducted its third orbital correction Wednesday night, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

The probe carried out the orbital correction at around 10 p.m. (Beijing time) with its eight 25N engines working simultaneously. The performance of the 25N engines was also tested during the operation.

The orbital correction aims to fine-tune the transfer orbit after the deep-space maneuver, ensuring that the probe achieves a sound planned rendezvous with Mars.

Launched on July 23, the probe carried out its first orbital correction on Aug. 2 and the second one on Sept. 20.

The probe has traveled about 97 days in orbit, flown about 256 million km and is currently 44 million km from the Earth. All probe systems are in good condition, CNSA said. (...)

China's Mars probe travels 400 mln km

China's Mars probe Tianwen-1 has traveled more than 400 million km by Sunday morning and is expected to enter Mars orbit next month, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

As of 6 a.m. on Sunday (Beijing Time), the Mars probe had flown in space for 163 days. It was about 130 million km from Earth and about 8.3 million km from Mars.

According to the CNSA, the probe is functioning stably and is scheduled to slow down before entering Mars orbit in more than a month and preparing itself to land on the red planet.

Since its launch on July 23, 2020, the Mars probe has captured an image showing both Earth and the moon, as well as taking several selfies. It has carried out three orbital corrections, a deep-space maneuver and self-checks on multiple payloads.

Tianwen-1 probe, weighing about five tonnes, consists of an orbiter, a lander and a rover. It is designed to complete orbiting, landing and roving in one mission.

After entering the Mars orbit, it will spend two to three months surveying potential landing sites, using a high-resolution camera to prepare for the landing in May.

The most challenging part of the mission will be the soft landing, an autonomous process of the probe lasting seven to eight minutes. The probe will use its aerodynamic shape, parachute and retrorocket to decelerate and buffer legs to touch down.

After the landing, the rover will be released to conduct scientific exploration with an expected lifespan of at least 90 Martian days (about three months on Earth), and the orbiter, with a design life of one Martian year (about 687 days on Earth), will relay communications for the rover while conducting its own scientific detection.

Tianwen-1 means Questions to Heaven and comes from a poem written by Qu Yuan (about 340-278 BC), one of the greatest poets of ancient China. The name signifies the Chinese nation's perseverance in pursuing truth and science and exploring nature and the universe, according to the CNSA.

Notably Hongyi, from the Confucian Analects, can be translated to "persistence" or perseverance, giving a similar meaning to the NASA Perseverance rover also heading for Mars. Others meanings include:

    Qilin: a Chinese unicorn
    Chitu: red rabbit
    Qiusuo: to explore, referencing an ancient poem
    Zhuimeng: to pursue a dream
    Nezha: a mythological hero
    Fenghuolun: Nezha's weapons
    Tianxing: referring to the motion of celestial bodies

Podczas pierwszego konkursu na imię łazika ponad 1,5 miliona zgłoszenia napłynęło z 38 krajów i regionów. Mi się najbardziej podoba chiński odpowiednik ,,Perseverance"  bo większość pozostałych imion to nawet trudno przeczytać  Wszedłem na chińską stronę gdzie się wybiera imię a tam same hieroglify :-( I weź tu zagłosuj
