Po blisko sześciu miesiącach życia i pracy na pokładzie Międzynarodowej Stacji Kosmicznej trzech astronautów wróciło 3 czerwca na Ziemię.
Start misji Sojuz MS-07 nastąpił 17 grudnia 2017. Cumowanie do modułu Rasswiet Międzynarodowej Stacji Kosmicznej zostało wykonane 19 grudnia. Na pokładzie znajdowało się trzech astronautów: Anton Szkaplerow z Rosji, Norishige Kanai z Japonii oraz Scott Tingle z USA.
Załoga Sojuza MS-07. Od lewej Norishige Kanai, Anton Szkaplerow, Scott Tingle / RoskosmosRosjanin brał już udział w dwóch wcześniejszych lotach do ISS w 2012 (załoga 29) i 2015 roku (załoga 42), podczas których spędził łącznie rok na orbicie. Dla Amerykanina Scotta Tingle oraz Japończyka Norishige Kanai był to pierwszy lot w kosmos.

Sojuz odcumował od od ISS zgodnie z planem o 11:16 CEST. Lekko ponad trzy godziny później, o 14:39 CEST lądownik pojazdu Sojuz osiadł na kazachskim stepie. Jego załoga łącznie spędziła 168 dni na orbicie.
Obecnie na pokładzie ISS przebywają Oleg Artiemjew, Andrew Feustel i Richard Arnold. 6 czerwca z Bajkonuru wystartuje kolejna załoga: Siergiej Prokopiew, Alexander Gerst oraz Serena Auñón-Chancellor.

(...) NASA managers, citing privacy issues, would not discuss what triggered the crew swap. Auñón-Chancellor said only that she planned to be ready for launch despite an accelerated training schedule and that she already was on good terms with her new crewmates.
“It’s a relatively short amount of time from the crew assignment, but I’ve known these guys for a very long time,” she said. “Alex and I were selected in the very same (astronaut) class and even from the beginning, when I started training in Russia, I’d also met Sergey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=77&v=e0Duw-JR8t0(...) Rodent Research-6 (RR-6) used mice flown to the Station as well as a set of mice on Earth to test a drug delivery system for combatting muscular breakdown (atrophy) in space or during period of muscle inactivity (disuse conditions).
RR-6 included groups of mice selectively treated with a placebo or implanted with a nanochannel drug delivery chip that administered compounds meant to maintain muscle in low gravity/disuse conditions. Two groups of 20 mice lived aboard the ISS in the rodent habitat for durations of one and two months for this experiment which specifically studied an implantable drug delivery system that could circumvent the need for daily injections.
The drug formoterol, used in the management of asthma and other medical conditions, was administered by controlled release from a nanochannel implant to achieve a constant and reliable dosage. If successful, this system could serve as a more reliable and accurate technology for drug delivery.
Moreover, it could rapidly translate into a commercial product to treat sarcopenia, or muscle wasting – a condition that affects more than 50% of the geriatric population. Current therapeutics used to treat this condition are limited to physical activity or generic hormones. The most commonly used pharmaceutical intervention for sarcopenia is formoterol, but administering these drugs requires a daily injection, which can be inconvenient.
This will test plans to develop an implantable device that will safely administer formoterol over a long period of time without patients needing a daily injection, something that could greatly improve quality of life. (...)
