24 April 1971. 23.40.00 UTC/GMT. Soyuz 10, the world's first manned mission to the first space station, the Soviet Salyut 1, returned to Earth 75 miles north-west of Karaganda. The docking was unsuccessful and the crew returned without entering the station.
