01.04.1975 prototyp elastycznego tunelu Spacelab, zbudowanego przez Goodyear Rubber Corp w celu połączenia śluzy wahadłowca z przednim końcem Spacelab, był oceniany w MSFC (Marshall Space Flight Center).
Inżynierowie MSFC testowali wytrzymałość konstrukcyjną, szczelność i kompatybilność materiałów.

A prototype of a flexible Spacelab tunnel, built by Goodyear Rubber Corp to connect the Shuttle airlock with the forward end of the Spacelab was being evaluated at MSFC, OTD in 1975. MSFC engineers were testing for structural strength, airtight integrity & materials compatibility

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the first launch of the European Space Agency's (ESA's) Spacelab module aboard astronaut John Young's final Space Shuttle mission.

The 9th launch of the Space Shuttle took place OTD 1983. Carrying Europe's Spacelab long module & ESA 1st astronaut into orbit the 10-day STS-9 mission was also the 6th flight of Columbia. Working in two 12-hour shifts the crew conducted over 72 experiments & observations.
