On June 17th, Ariane 64 will launch 36 Amazon Leo satellites into orbit.
This will be the first Ariane 6 flight equipped with four P160C boosters, increasing its payload capacity from 32 to 36 satellites on a single launch.

Now, the launch this month will see the debut of four new boosters based on the P160C rocket motor with more propellant. Although this will be the most powerful Ariane 6 so far, more upgrades are in preparation so more is still to come.

RN Ariane 6 wyniosła łącznie 100 satelitów konstelacji Amazon Leo.

RN Ariane 64 po raz pierwszy poleciała w wersji Block 2, wykorzystującej kwartet mocniejszych rakiet wspomagających na paliwo stałe P160C.
Różnią się one od poprzednich (P120C) przede wszystkim długością o metr i dodatkowymi 14,6 tonami paliwa.
Mechanizm mocowania do centralnego stopnia rakiety nośnej LLPM pozostał niezmieniony.
Dzięki nowym silnikom P160C, ładowność Ariane 64 wzrosła nawet o 15% w zależności od parametrów orbitalnych. Dlatego podczas tego startu rakieta wyniosła na orbitę o cztery satelity więcej niż podczas startu z 30.04.2026, kiedy to była jeszcze wyposażona w silniki P120C.
Satelity oddzieliły się od górnego stopnia w dwunastu partiach po trzy satelity w okresie od 86,5 do 111,5 minuty po starcie.

Silniki P160C są  jednymi z największych na świecie jednoczęściowych silników rakietowych na paliwo stałe, wykonanych z włókna węglowego, zaprojektowane w celu zastąpienia silników P120C – wersji silników, które wykorzystano podczas pierwszych lotów rakiety Ariane 6.
Istotne zmiany wprowadzono wewnątrz silników, których długość i szerokość pozostały niezmienione.
W rzeczywistości nowy silnik P160C umieszczony wewnątrz rakiety nośnej jest o jeden metr dłuższy od silnika P120C i może pomieścić do 156 ton paliwa, co zwiększa wydajność rakiety nośnej o 10% przy wynoszeniu ładunków na LEO w porównaniu z silnikiem P120C.
Ta modernizacja zwiększa ładowność rakiety Ariane 6 do około 22 ton na LEO.

Ariane 6 has proven itself yet again, cementing its versatility as a launcher that can deliver all types of missions to all orbits, giving us more confidence and possibilities for Europe’s autonomous access to space. Ariane 6 was designed from the outset to be a modular launcher. We have now seen it launch in three versions in just two years and we are not finished, further evolutions are still to come.

Wcześniej rekordowy ładunek wyniesiony przez europejską rakietę należał do ATV Albert Einstein.

As this was the most powerful version of Ariane 6 to launch so far, the launch also set a new record for most cargo taken to space in one go by a European launcher. The previous record was held by Ariane 5 set in 2013 for ESA’s 20-tonne International Space Station supply mission ATV Albert Einstein.

Following the launch of the 36 satellites, the next Ariane 6 rocket launch is expected to occur on 28 August with the rocket in its two-booster configuration. While the CNES “mark your calendars” announcement did not mention the expected passenger for the flight, it is likely to be the Meteosat-14 weather satellite for the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
