According to the British Interplanetary Society, Major Peake is the seventh person born in the UK to have left Earth. (...)

British astronaut Tim Peake has teased a return to space during an interview in which he doffed his cap to Axiom Space and others in the commercial space sector.

When asked by James O'Brien if he might go back to space, Peake replied: "If you'd asked me that a year ago, I'd have said there perhaps weren't a huge amount of opportunities.

"Actually, right now, I think there's more opportunity than I've even realized. There's a lot happening in the commercial space sector." (...)

Dr David Parker, who was Director of Human and Robotic Exploration at ESA until this year, told The Register in 2020: "The commitment we made to the member states is that all of the astronauts will get a second flight." Peake has only managed one to date. (...)

Today the British Army said goodbye to the Apache AH Mk1 after 23 years of service. A real workhorse and a fantastic aircraft to fly. I’m proud to have been one of the original team of instructors and ground crew that formed AMTAT (Air Manoeuvre Training Advisory Team) to bring the AH1 into service with the regular Army.
Yet another aircraft I’ve flown that’s heading to a museum!!

Today marks 10 years since @astro_timpeake's  historic Principia mission came to an end when he landed safely back on Earth. 🚀 🍎

Tim spent 186 days on the @Space_Station, where he:
👨‍🚀 Became the 1st UK @ESA astronaut to complete a spacewalk
🔬Took part in over 250 scientific experiments
🎙Spoke to school kids using amateur radio
🕹 Drove a rover across a simulated Mars terrain

Snacking On Space Sarnies

Tim dined on many different foods whilst in space, and he worked closely with Heston Blumenthal to create some tasty meals for his mission.

We put a canned bacon sarnie into the mystery box to get his tastebuds tingling!

Tim: Right. I think I know what that is. Feels like a very light tin of food. I can feel the ring pull bit there, so it's probably my bacon sarnie! So 10% of the food that we eat on the space station is allowed to be personalized. And, we get to choose who cooks it, and we get to choose the menu. So I did that as a competition along with Heston Blumenthal. And we opened it up to school children to design an astronaut's menu for the day, something British and, have it flown up to space. And the breakfast item was a bacon sarnie. Very tasty, too!

What was your favourite space food?

Tim: The most enjoyable food were maple muffin pancakes. They were soaked in maple syrup, but only enough for once every Sunday. (...)
