Jako, że 04.05. urodziła się i kończy dziś 66 lat - była astronautka nielot z Niemiec - Renate Luise Brümmer. Była ona dublerką PS w czasie niemieckiej misji naukowej D2 w 1993 - STS-55 Columbia/F-14 i uczestniczyła z Ziemi z wsparciem pracujących na orbicie współrodaków.

Man sieht, das Arbeiten in einem Parabelflieger hat auch für uns so manche Herausforderung. Ich habe es mir deshalb "ISS-lich" eingerichtet.

After docking to the @Space_Station, @astro_marcus will meet his @esa colleague @Astro_Andreas who is currently the Commander of ISS Expedition 70. Andy launched from right this place on August 26 last year and is in space since then. GO #MUNINN & #HUGINN !

My highlight of the week: helicopter-under water escape training 🌊🚁
After returning from space, astronauts typically land with their spacecraft in the ocean. We are retrieved by an incredible team of Flight Surgeons and Crew Support Officers, who pick us up by helicopter and bring us safely back to land. And as always, we also prepare for things that might go wrong there.

Training to escape from a capsized helicopter is essential not only for astronauts, but for the entire crew involved. In the event of an emergency water landing, the team only has a few seconds to get out -helicopters are top-heavy, so they can overturn and sink quickly.

To prepare us for every possible scenario, the instructors challenged us in all kinds of ways: tinted goggles that block visibility, climbing out through a different window than the one next to us, escaping without using our emergency air supply, and more. All of it designed to help us stay calm and focused - no matter what might happen in an emergency.
It’s the kind of training no one ever hopes to use in real life, but if you do, it’s absolutely critical.

Letzte Woche haben die @esa -Mitgliedstaaten in Bremen das größte Weltraum-Projektportfolio in der Geschichte Europas beschlossen: eine deutlich verstärkte Unterstützung für Wissenschaft, Exploration, Sicherheit und Technologie - ein starkes Signal für Europas Zukunft im Weltraum.🤝🇪🇺

Für mich persönlich ist das ein bedeutender Moment. Diese Entscheidung stärkt nicht nur unsere wissenschaftlichen Missionen zum Wohle aller Menschen, sondern auch Europas Fähigkeit, die Erde besser zu verstehen, das Klima zu schützen, Risiken aus dem All zu erkennen und langfristig sicher und nachhaltig im Weltraum präsent zu sein.🌍
Das ist auch die Ambition hinter den nächsten Mondmissionen: Aus dem Gestein des Mondes können wir viel über die Geschichte der Erde lernen - etwa über das Eis am Südpol des Mondes oder in Kratern vergangener Meteoriteneinschläge - und daraus Erkenntnisse gewinnen, wie wir uns in Zukunft besser vor Gefahren aus dem All schützen können.🌕

Der Mond ist das Geschichtsbuch der Erde, und es ist für uns Menschen von höchster Bedeutung, seine Spuren zu lesen.📘

Es ist faszinierend, dass wir als europäische Weltraumentdeckerinnen und -entdecker Teil dieses Abenteuers sein dürfen, um der nächsten Generation einen Teil unserer Faszination zu übermitteln. Und vielleicht auch die Inspiration, ihrem eigenen Traum eine faire Chance zu geben! 🧑‍🚀🚀
