26 years ago, today, Expedition 1 began our continuous habitation of space with NASA astronaut Bill Shepard and cosmonauts Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev.  Earth is just as stunning and station is still a platform that opens the doors to our future on the moon and, eventually, Mars.  In this orbit, on this day, we passed by the blue fishing boats and, in the end, even a little aurora.  See if you can spot the landmarks from the map.  You’re looking out of the port window of the cupola, so to the left of the line.

Today marks 26 years of continuous human presence in space — meaning an entire generation has never known a day without people living above Earth. That’s pretty special.

Russia discussing with partners extension of ISS operations until 2032 — deputy PM
28 Oct, 12:04

The manned space program, cross flights, and work on the International Space Station are proceeding as planned, Denis Manturov said

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russia is discussing with foreign partners the extension of the International Space Station (ISS) joint operations until 2032, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said at a meeting of the Federation Council.

"Our manned space program, cross flights, and work on the International Space Station are proceeding as planned. We are currently discussing with our partners the extension of its operations until 2032," he said.

In July, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov announced that Roscosmos and NASA had agreed to extend the ISS operations until 2030. He emphasized that even after the ISS ceases operations, space agencies will continue to coordinate and exchange technical information regarding their orbital stations. Meanwhile, the first module of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) is projected to be deployed in 2028.
