Jennifer Anne MacKinnon 'Jenni' Sidey-Gibbons została wyselekcjonowana w ramach CSA grupa 4 (2017) jako trzecia Kanadyjka.

2011 uzyskała tytuł licencjata w dziedzinie inżynierii mechanicznej na Uniwersytecie McGill.

Podczas studiów na Uniwersytecie McGill prowadziła badania nad propagacją płomieni w stanie nieważkości we współpracy z Kanadyjską Agencją Kosmiczną i National Research Council Flight Research Laboratory.

Pracę nad rozprawą doktorską rozpoczęła na Uniwersytecie Cambridge w Wielkiej Brytanii, a po jej obronie w 2015 uzyskała stopień doktora w dziedzinie inżynierii mechanicznej.

2016 pracowała jako wykładowca teorii silników spalinowych na Wydziale Inżynierii Mechanicznej Uniwersytetu Cambridge w Wielkiej Brytanii.

01.07.2017 podczas obchodów Dnia Kanady została najmłodszą kanadyjską astronautką.

18.08.2017 roku w JSC w Houston w Teksasie rozpoczęła odbywanie podstawowego kursu ogólnego szkolenia kosmicznego z astronautami NASA grupa 22.

10.01.2020 podczas ceremonii w JSC uzyskała kwalifikacje astronautki.

22.11.2023 na konferencji prasowej Kanadyjskiej Agencji Kosmicznej ogłoszono, że zostanie włączona do załogi rezerwowej statku kosmicznego Orion, którego lot w ramach programu Artemis-2 zaplanowano na 11.2024.

Jest współautorką około dziesięciu artykułów w różnych recenzowanych czasopismach.

(...) This will be a very flight-specific role. First and foremost, it’ll be to support the crew in any way they need. And if a situation should arise where Jeremy Hansen cannot fill that seat, I would fill it — but that’s very rare. I really hope Jeremy goes on this mission. He is such a trusted and exceptional astronaut; he is so well suited for it. So, while I am conscious of the possibility, it certainly won’t interfere with my support activities. Truly, the expectation is that I act as another crew representative for the whole development for this flight, which is very cool. It’s our return to the moon! (...)

McGill Engineering alumna graduates from Astronaut Candidate to full-fledged Astronaut

(...) During the ceremony each new astronaut received a silver pin, a tradition dating back to the Mercury 7 astronauts, who were selected in 1959. They will receive a gold pin once they complete their first spaceflights.

Of the graduating cohort, 11 graduates are NASA products, while Sidey-Gibbons and Joshua Kutryk represent the Canadian Space Agency as Canada’s 13th and 14th astronauts. (...)

The graduation marked the end of more than two years of challenging – often arduous – training that tested each candidate physically and mentally.

Over that period, Sidey-Gibbons learned how to fly supersonic jets, operate the Canada Arm, speak Russian and safely extricate herself from a helicopter downed in deep water. All in a day’s work. (...)

(...) “The first big lesson I learned was not to discount myself early on in the process. So what I’d say is whatever it is you want to do, just back yourself a little bit more than you think you should and have a lot more confidence in yourself, because you should never be the one to say no to yourself or turn yourself away from an opportunity.”

In response to a question from the audience on how best to pass the astronaut selection process, Dr Sidey-Gibbons said: “You have to be gritty and resilient. Lab experience also helps because of the operational skills you use. On the ISS, for example, you are, in some ways, a mechanic. Having outdoor expedition experience also helps, but I think the most important thing by far is getting along with people. If no one wants to go to space with you, you will not go to space!” (...)

This week we saw the core stage and the first segments of the solid rocket boosters of the SLS rocket that will take the Artemis II crew to space. Meeting employees, NASA leadership and industry partners at

Joshua Peter Kutryk miał polecieć na początku 2025.
Teraz, jak zostanie nominowany do lotu na ISS to najwcześniej może polecieć w 2026.
Jennifer Sidey-Gibbons jest rezerwową załogantką w misji Artemis II.
ISS ma być zdeorbitowana w 2030, więc jej szanse na lot na ISS wydają się niewielkie, chyba, że przyjąć pierwotny start Kutryka w 2024 to w 2030 mogłaby jeszcze polecieć, biorąc pod uwagę wkład ISS w program ISS, a co za tym idzie regularność lotów na ISS Kanadyjczyków zrealizowanych jak i ten planowany pierwotnie.
